Chegou 2023 e com ele quase um quarto de século de grandes amostras da força do Rock and Roll. Pensando em resumir a cara do gênero no séc. XXI, o portal americano Loudwire elegeu os 100 melhores discos de Rock e Metal lançados de 2000 para cá.
O site lembra que, enquanto bandas clássicas como Rush, Iron Maiden e Red Hot Chili Peppers continuaram lançando álbuns de sucesso, a internet e os serviços de streaming aumentaram rapidamente a quantidade de grupos no mainstream.
A Loudwire destacou o Nu Metal, o Metalcore, o Emo e o Rock Alternativo ganhando espaço no cenário, e bandas como Slipknot, Queens of the Stone Age e Ghost figuram mais de uma vez no Top 100.
No pódio, o portal colocou (sem ordem, para não estragar a surpresa) as letras “nonsense mas poderosas” do System of a Down, a “profundidade massiva” do Tool e a “energia Rap e Rock” do Linkin Park.
