Há mais de um ano, Chester Bennington, o influente vocalista da banda Linkin Park, foi encontrado morto. Foi uma perda que abalou muitas pessoas na indústria fonográfica e que jamais será superada.

Um dos maiores vocalistas dos últimos anos, Chester chegou a gravar mais uma canção antes de partir. Pouco antes do lançamento do álbum One More Light, o compositor se juntou a Mark Morton, guitarrista do Lamb Of God, para a gravação de uma das faixas de seu primeiro álbum solo.

A parceria se chama “Cross Off” e tem previsão de lançamento para o dia 8 de Janeiro. A música, com um pesado instrumental, conta com Chester misturando gritos e versos de rap. A letra também chama a atenção, falando sobre angústia e sobre se libertar. Ler tais versos após a morte do vocalista pode ser difícil e facilmente pode gerar comparações com o episódio de sua morte. “Elimine os dias que já se foram”, diz um verso da música que é repetido várias vezes ao longo dela.

Bennington ficou satisfeito com o resultado, e postou no mês de gravação da música um tweet dizendo que ela estava ficando “incrível”, e fãs tem apontado alguns trechos como o seguinte:

Em outro, mais pesado, a música diz:

Vazou?

Por algum engano, a faixa foi disponibilizada antes do previsto nas plataformas de streaming, mas já foi tirada do ar. No Spotify, por exemplo, você encontra a faixa, mas ela não pode ser reproduzida. Provavelmente só teremos esta oportunidade no próximo dia 8.

O novo álbum de Morton

Chester não é o único grande talento a participar do álbum de estreia da carreira solo de Mark Morton. O guitarrista também convocou para o seu álbum nomes grande do rock como Myles Kennedy, Jacob Shaddix (Papa Roach) e mais.

O lançamento de Anesthetic está agendado para o próximo dia 1 de Março. No entanto, a faixa “The Truth Is Dead“, com participação do colega de banda Randy Blythe, já está disponível.
