TMDQA! Apresenta: Direct Hit!

Marcando sua primeiríssima sessão ao vivo, o TMDQA! teve a honra de poder contar com o divertido Nick Woods, líder da banda de punk rock/pop punk de Wisconsin, Direct Hit!.

Sabendo que o norte-americano viria ao Brasil por conta da turma de faculdade, para estudar “negócios internacionais”, o TMDQA! aproveitou e o convidou para gravar um set acústico, na tarde de 14 de janeiro deste ano, na Cidade Maravilhosa, no sempre excelente e parceiro estúdio Superfuzz.

A descontraída e prazerosa sessão, foi gravada por Gabriel Zander e Gabriel Arbex (que também cuidou da mixagem do material); registrada em fotos e em videos por Brenno Erick e seus preparativos foram acompanhados por ninguém menos que Bacalhau, baterista do Autoramas, que trocou várias ideias com Nick.

Para o set list (que contou com erros, risadas e comentários), Nick escolheu duas faixas já clássicas do Direct Hit!, “Failed Invasion” e “Satan Days“, e apresentou com exclusividade “What He Asked For“, que fará parte do segundo álbum da banda e o sucessor do explosivo Domesplitter, lançado em 2011.

Após as gravações, Nick contou que gostaria de almoçar uma prato típico brasileiro. No restaurante, enquanto ele saboreava um belo prato de moqueca de camarão, conversava sobre os mais diversos assuntos, como Lollapalooza, Sarah Palin, The Queers, Direct Hit!, The Flatliners, São Paulo, Britney Spears x Lady Gaga, presidente Bush, azeite de dendê, farofa, cachorro, Green Day, Kanye West, discos, Melvins, Fugazi, filmes de zumbis e muito mais.

Já na despedida, no começo da noite, foi relembrado o quão divertida havia sido aquela tarde quente e ensolarada no bairro Humaitá, cujo clima foi o suficiente para transformar o líder do Direct Hit! em Nick “Carioca” Woods, que, de chinelos e bermuda, disse que adorou participar do projeto.

Marking our first ever live session, TMDQA! had the honor to count with the entertaining Nick Woods, leader of the punk rock/pop punk band from Wisconsin, Direct Hit!.

Knowing that he would come to Brazil this year with his class, to study “International Business”, TMDQA! took advantage and invited him to record an acoustic set on the afternoon of January 14, in the Wonderful City (Rio de Janeiro), at the always excellent and partner, Superfuzz studio.

The relaxed and enjoyable session was recorded by Gabriel Zander and Gabriel Arbex (who also handled the mixing of the material), photographed and filmed by Brenno Erick and the preparations were accompanied by none other than Bacalhau, drummer of Autoramas, who exchanged several ideas with Nick, while waiting to the session begin.

For the set list (which included errors, laughs and comments), Nick chose two classic tracks from Direct Hit! “Failed Invasion” and “Satan Days“, and presented exclusively “What He Asked For“, which will be on the band’s second album and the successor of the explosive Domesplitter, released in 2011.

After the recordings, Nick said he would like lunch a tipical food of Brazil. At the restaurant, as he savored a nice plate of grilled shrimp, he talked about various subjects, such as Lollapalooza, Sarah Palin, The Queers, Direct Hit!, The Flatliners, Britney Spears x Lady Gaga, President Bush, food, dog, Green Day, Kanye West, records, Melvins, Fugazi, zombie movies and more.

In the evening, during the farewell, was reminded how fun had been that hot and sunny afternoon in the neighborhood Humaitá, whose climate was enough to turn the leader of Direct Hit! on Nick “Carioca” Woods, who, in slippers and shorts, said that enjoyed to be part of the project.
